so, i've got the week cleared out, anyways.

if the weather orients itself a specific way...

4th:
steve hackett doing selling england by the pound (early)
noise show @ donovan's (late)

5th:
floozies/sunsquabi OR
talking ear (early) & dada trash colage (late)

6th:
if i go to royal oak, i might hit beethoven's emperor in the morning on the way home. this is attached to a showcase of black music that i'm not familiar with, but can learn about when i'm there.

+ lume/rezn are doing some kind of weird thing early & there's a funk show at tangent late. i'd need to find a late late party....

7th:
it may make more sense to hit beethoven on the saturday night.

so, the theme is guitar driven electronic music. & this could actually be an insane weekend, if a few things cooperate.

i will probably hit a show or two.

it will certainly be too cold for a multiday event.

i still have some reviewing to do...
this is the headliner for the sunsquabi show and, again, i just wish they'd drop the singer.

i wouldn't skip it, though, under different circumstances.

i have seen sunsquabi a few times already, and it doesn't seem like they're touring a new record right now. it's also out in the burbs (of detroit), and near the high end of my acceptable price range.

so, i think that i'm going to focus on the talking ear show on this night, which is downtown and half the price (beer is also likely half the price) and a band i haven't seen yet, too. i can catch sunsquabi again later, hopefully closer to downtown.

they are an enjoyable live act, though, and i would recommend them if you're out that way on thursday.

this is a little esoteric, but i actually like that - it reminds me of some of the 70s fusion acts i grew up with.

i could catch this on thursday, for sure.

ok, we're back up in the laptop.

i haven't showered yet, as i'm waiting for a second round of dishes.

i don't think he's home, but somebody sparked some very bad smelling drugs around 4:00 this morning, and it was bad enough that i had to react. they seem to have stopped once they realized i was awake. but, we're going to need to leave the fan on all day to clear it out.

i generally prefer to drink coffee over night and sleep during the day.

so, i'm going to spend the morning getting back to cleaning up these blog posts going back to mid-january, which is just that much worse, now.

i don't expect to leave the house again until mid-week, although i'm thinking about catching the beethoven concerto on the weekend (i initially missed that). there's some other things that i'm...

...do i really want to pay to watch a 70 something steve hackett perform covers of songs he helped write in the early 70s? they're some of the most substantive pieces of music of the latter part of the twentieth century. i just don't know if there's a point to it.

but, that's what i'm doing - cleaning up the blog and listening to music.
